Dr. Harron

Dr. Harron

Veterinarian

Following graduation in 1994 with a specialized honours degree in Bio-medical Science, Dr. Harron then graduated with honours from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1999. As a new veterinarian, she gained a wide variety of experiences practicing veterinary medicine for companion animals both in private practice and at the Mississauga Oakville Veterinary Emergency Hospital.

In 2007, she and her family moved to the beautiful Orangeville area to join the Dufferin Veterinary Hospital team, and it was with great excitement that she became the owner of the hospital in 2009. With a special interest in rehabilitation therapy, she thoroughly enjoys all aspects and the daily surprises of small animal veterinary practice. She looks forward to becoming “your other family doctor” – to help you enrich the quality of life for your cherished furry companions.

Dr. Harron and her team support the Ontario Turtle Conservation Center by providing volunteer first aid to injured turtles as a primary emergency care facility. Her other hobbies include trying to keep up with the chaos that is her dog Benny, tending to her orchids and multitude of cacti, cultivating ridiculously hot peppers, beekeeping, and exciting motorcycle adventures with her husband.

Dr. Halbert

Dr. Halbert

Veterinarian

Dr. Halbert has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Guelph and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Ontario Veterinary College. She has been practising small animal medicine and surgery in the Shelburne and Alliston area since 1997. Her special interests include preventive health care, pediatrics and the human animal bond. Dr. Halbert enjoys walking her dogs, riding and driving her horses, cooking, baking and reading when she is not engaged in veterinary medicine.

Mackenna, RVT

Mackenna, RVT

Veterinary Technician

Mackenna is one of our Registered Veterinary Technicians in both our Orangeville and Shelburne locations. She graduated from the University of Guelph Ridgetown Campus in 2022. Mackenna is an animal lover of all kinds, which stemmed from being raised on a dairy goat farm just outside of Dundalk. In high school Mackenna did her co-op placement at a mixed veterinary clinic that provided care to both small and large animals, which intrigued her to start her career as an RVT. Each day while working she enjoys learning new things and meeting your furry companions. In her spare time, Mackenna enjoys driving with her country music blaring while sipping an iced cappuccino.

Barb

Barb

Veterinary Assistant

Barbara has been part of the clinic team since 2018, bringing over a decade of experience and the ability to somehow be covered in fur within minutes of arriving at work. At home, she runs a highly selective rescue for tiny chaos gremlins — five Chihuahuas — supervised by a Bengal cat and a green cheek conure who has absolutely no respect for personal space or authority.

Her professional skills include finding veins that don’t want to be found, speaking fluent “anxious pet parent,” and talking to animals in a voice she swears she doesn’t use on humans.

She loves being part of a team dedicated to helping pets live their happiest, healthiest lives — even if it means going home with a little extra fur every day. She wouldn’t trade this life for anything… although she would consider negotiating with the conure.

Jade

Jade

Client Service Representative

Jade is part of our Client Service team and is one of the friendly, familiar voices you hear over the phone. Jade currently lives in Shelburne with her fiancé, an animal-loving toddler, and two crazy huskies. She has years of hands-on experience working with dogs and is thrilled to now be a part of the family at Dufferin Veterinary Hospital. What she loves most about her job is the continuing education (learning more every day) and interacting with fur babies and their parents. In her spare time, Jade loves reading, going on family walks, listening to podcasts, and vacuuming Husky fluff.

Lorie

Lorie

Client Service Representative

Lorie has come out of retirement for the second or third time to help with all of your client service needs. She just couldn’t stay away from us or your furry friends.

Lorie spends her time travelling the world and practicing her espanol. When Lorie is not exploring, you can find her buried under a herd of tiny chihuahuas, hanging out with her grandchildren or wining and dining with her novio. If you are in the area pop by and say hola.

Joelle

Joelle

Client Service Representative

Joe has been working in veterinary medicine since 2019, starting out in emergency practice as an Animal Care Attendant before moving into general practice as both a receptionist and ACA. I love being part of both the medical side of patient care and the client connection side of the clinic.

Animals have always been at the center of my world. I started as a teen in a dog boarding facility, then moved into the horse world — working in a large English show jumping and dressage barn and later helping run a children’s and adult equine therapy non-profit. Over the years, I’ve cared for everything from horses and goats to chickens, cattle, and pigs.

After moving to the area, I continued working alongside a large animal veterinarian and on a private horse farm.

At home, the animal theme continues with my two dogs, one cat, several chickens… and two ducks to keep things extra lively.
